The Holy Trinity – It’s All About Love!

img_3474   God is Trinity, Three in One.   The great mystery of the Holy Trinity seems difficult to fully understand.  God is One God yet three distinct persons.  In celebrating the Trinity, I’d like to reflect on this great union of love.   God sending forth the Spirit through the Son.   The Blessed Trinity can and should be a great source of encouragement for us in our day at this time.   The one thing we have not heard or seen in all the images and voices in the media is LOVE!

With all that is happening in our word, it is not my intention to focus on the theology of the Trinity, but rather the implications of what a deeper understanding of God can do to reshape our lives and our world.    We can never full understand God nor know everything about God, but one thing is clear  Love is the DNA of God.   Love is mainly what we can know  about God.   Although we cannot know everything about God nor fully who God is, but we can be sure of is that God is Love! 1 John 4:7-21
The entire passage found in 1 John 4:7-21 speaks of God’s loving nature. Love is not merely an attribute of God, it is his very nature. God is not only loving, he is fundamentally love. God alone loves in the completeness and perfection of love.

OIPVEUEH60P  We see this Love in the Father as the initiator of love, the Holy Spirit is the love force between the Father and the Son who is accepts the Father’s invitation to be SENT.    So in this relationship we see the example of Love that is needed in our world.

Something is happening that has never happened, there is a common desire that our world be transformed from Hate, discrimination and racism to ultimately love.   As we look around our nation and our world we have seen an outcry against the total disregard and destruction of human life.  In the killing of George Floyd by Police or to Ahmoud Arbery by racists, we are saying it’s too much, this hatred needs to stop.   We are saying that we will no longer tolerate this division and disregard for Black lives, and really all lives.   All over the country we see now police kneeling, people kneeling, saying the lives of these men matters and we are demanding that all people be treated equally and humanely.

The Trinity is truly a symbol of the genuine love that we ultimately seek.   God the Father the great lover, Jesus His Son the Beloved of God,   The Spirit of God is that Love force that unites the Father and the Son sent to the world so that it to might be transformed.

Matthew 3:17

“and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son,with whom I am well pleased.”
