A Mother’s Love

A Mother’s love is something that no one can explain. It is made of deep devotion and of sacrifice and pain. It is endless and unselfish and enduring, come what may.
For nothing can destroy it or take that love away….
It is patient and forgiving when all others are forsaking. And it never fails or falters even though the heart is breaking. It believes beyond believing when the world around condemns, and it flows with all the beauty of the rarest, brightest gems. It is far beyond defining, it defines all explanation, and it still remains a secret like the mysteries of creation. A many splendored miracle man cannot understand, and another wonderous evidence of God’s tender guiding hand.
Happy Mother’s Day to all our Mothers

Do not let your Hearts be troubled, Build your Spiritual House!
In our fifth week of Easter we are encouraged to build our spiritual house in the midst of that is happening around us. We find this time of pandemic unsettling. Some have ventured out as businesses reopen, other continue to hunker down recognizing that the crisis is far from over. At times like this we need to have a solid spiritual home where we can find strength and solace that only Christ can give.
In our first reading today we see the Spiritual House the Church as it grows with it’s foundation on Christ and the Apostles. You in the spiritual house of the church all must have value and be cared for. With the Apostles preaching, traveling and teaching we see the church at its grassroots, sprouting and growing. Far from where we are today, but we saw in the midst of the early church great growth as many came to find their home in Christ and in His Church.
There was concern for the least, the poor and those on the margins of the community. In a desire to include them and provide for their needs we see men called to serve, called to care for widows and those who were in need. These men filled with the Holy Spirit were partners along side the Apostles to care after the young church. You see in building our spiritual house we have to make sure we not only pay attention that those most in need, but we have to trust in the Spirit’s ability to anoint and bring forth growth.
Paul reminds us that as a spiritual house we have Christ as our corner stone, although rejected is now the very foundation of God’s house, the Church. In being a spiritual house we are formed into a Chosen Race, a Royal Priesthood a People set apart that offers prayer, sacrifice and thanksgiving to our almighty Father. What a spiritual house we have become. It from this treasure of the storehouse of the Church that we ourselves and the domestic Church find it’s source, and very life force.
Jesus reminds us that in the midst of the challenges and troubles of the world, and all that we experience, that he has not left us alone. We need not be troubled but rather have faith in God and Faith in Him. You see Jesus and the Father are one God, to have faith in God is to have faith in Jesus Christ. If we have faith in God we will find Jesus very ability, His DNA in the word’s of the late Fr. Chester Smith, SVD is within us. Imagine the ability to do the things that Jesus did, if you believe. I find that as we celebrate Mother’s Day, and all the challenges that we face in our world, nation and church, it is our faith and Christ’s ability within us that enable us to make it through. Build your spiritual house, when you wonder where to turn and what to do, know that the very ability of Jesus Christ, is over your life and there is nothing that we are going through that Jesus can’t help us get to, in the great design He has for us.

EL AMOR DE UNA MADRE

tenor
