This week I would like to reflect with you on “Hope for Living”.  Last week we saw how  Christ invited himself into our lives and we accepting and receiving Him, “Salvation comes to our home”    Now we turn to the center of our hope and faith as a Christian people.   The Power of the Resurrection gives us hope for living.We look at the Gospel of Luke 20th chapter and Jesus is confronted with the question of resurrection.   God’s plan for  our lives is  greater than what we can see or imagine.  The relationships we have here on this side of glory are different then when we are in God’s presence. We are invited to see that the core of the message of Jesus is one of hope.  As a church and a people we are called to live in the hope that comes from the resurrection.  Often it seems that we only talk about resurrection at Easter, but in reality we are a resurrection people, it is the core of our very being and Christian DNA.    Let’s look at what Saint Paul say to the community at Corinth.

“If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. 14And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. 15More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. 16For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. 17And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. 18Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. 19If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. 20But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep.” 1st Corinthians 15:13-20

At the end of the Gospel this week Jesus reminds us that the power and hope of the resurrection is for us here and now.  The Power of the Resurrection we must claim and call forth upon our lives to empower us and strengthen so that we might be transformed.  I want do something different, let me share with you what a parish looks like that is living the power of the resurrection in a community and culture of death. We seek to turn “dark yesterdays into bright tomorrow.” MLK

When living as a resurrection people we see our lives and the lives of those we serve, transformed and enriched and empowered.   There is truly Hope for Living through the power of the Resurrection over our lives.

“ESPERANZA PARA VIVIR”

Esta semana me gustaría reflexionar con ustedes sobre “Esperanza para vivir”. La semana pasada vimos cómo Cristo se invita a sí mismo en nuestras vidas y cómo lo aceptamos y lo recibimos: "La salvación ha llegado a nuestro hogar . Ahora nos volvemos al centro de nuestra esperanza y fe como pueblo cristiano. El Poder de la Resurrección nos da esperanza para vivir. Observamos el Evangelio de Lucas, capítulo  , Jesús se enfrenta a la cuestión de la resurrección. El plan de Dios para nuestras
vidas es mucho mayor de lo que podemos ver o imaginar. Las relaciones que temenos aquí en este lado de la gloria son diferentes que cuando estamos en la presencia de Dios.

Me gustaría invitarnos a ver que el núcleo del mensaje de Jesús es de
esperanza. Como iglesia y pueblo estamos llamados a vivir en la esperanza que viene
de la resurrección. A menudo parece que solo hablamos de la resurrección en Pascua,
pero en realidad somos un pueblo de resurrección, es el núcleo de nuestro ser y ADN
cristiano. Veamos lo que San Pablo le dice a la comunidad en Corinto.

“Si no hay resurrección de los muertos, entonces ni siquiera Cristo ha resucitado. 14 y
si Cristo no ha resucitado, nuestra predicación es inútil y también lo es su fe. 15 más
que eso, entonces se nos descubre que somos testigos falsos de Dios, porque hemos
testificado acerca de Dios que resucitó a Cristo de los muertos. Pero no lo resucitó si
de hecho los muertos no resucitan. 16 porque si los muertos no resucitan, tampoco
Cristo resucitó. 17 y si Cristo no ha resucitado, su fe es inútil; todavía está en sus
pecados. 18 los que también se han quedado dormidos en Cristo están perdidos. 19 si
solo por esta vida tenemos esperanza en Cristo, somos los más lamentables de todas
las personas. 20 pero Cristo ha resucitado de entre los muertos, los primeros frutos de
los que se han quedado dormidos ". 1 corintios 15: 13-20

Al final del Evangelio esta semana, Jesús nos recuerda que el poder y la esperanza de
la resurrección son para nosotros aquí y ahora. Por el Poder de la Resurrección
debemos reclamar e invocar nuestras vidas para empoderarnos y fortalecernos para
que podamos ser transformados. Quiero hacer algo diferente, déjenme compartir con
ustedes cómo es una parroquia que está viviendo el poder de la resurrección en una
comunidad y cultura de la muerte.
Cuando vivimos como personas de resurrección, vemos nuestras vidas y las vidas de
aquellos a quienes servimos, transformados, enriquecidos y empoderados. Realmente
hay esperanza para vivir a través del poder de la resurrección sobre nuestras vidas.
