To often it may seem that life has become unbearable and the challenges and difficulties too much.  We become paralyzed by our fears and the drudgeries of life dishearten us.  We would so like to come up and beyond but it seems we are discouraged, helpless and useless.  Although this may seem to be a state or moment in life, there is news for us today, we find no matter the hardship, challenger or pain the possibility for transformation is there.  Faith can strengthen us.

Today I spent time speaking with and praying with a man who had just lost his son to gun violence a senseless killing.   One might wonder what words can ease the pain, what can be spoken to bring a father of young man who was shot and killed out of their despair.   Well you see I believe that it is Faith that Strengthens.  It may not be in the instant or moment, but faith heals, restores and refortifies.  Even in the midst of sadness and anger Faith gives us the ability to just make it through the day, the moment or the hour.   Today maybe gone, a son may be lost but sometimes all we have left to hold on to is our Faith.   You see Faith Strengthens us.

In Paul’s letter to Timothy he writes: “the Lord stood by me and gave me strength,” he continues, “The Lord will rescue me from every evil threat and will bring me safe to his heavenly kingdom.”   Be encouraged by Paul’s letter to Timothy.  The ability of God to strengthen us is two fold.   God stands by us here and now and gives us the strength to battle injustice, to reach out to save those who are lost.  To speak out against hatred and violence.  To stand for justice and dignity for our youth, our families our neighborhood.   And ultimately to lead us to that heavenly kingdom.

God has a plan and direction for each of our lives.  He so wants us to know that he truly is there, is real and stands with us.   If we can simply trust in Him, Paul says “I have competed well; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith.”  Keep the Faith and let it be your Strength!

Frecuentemente nos puede parecer que la vida se nos hace imposible, insoportable y que los desafíos y las dificultades superan nuestra capacidad para controlarlos y subsanarlos. Nos paralizamos por nuestros miedos y las penas de la vida nos desaniman. Quisiéramos ir más allá y continuar, pero nos sentimos desanimados e indefensos. Creemos que somos inútiles. Aunque sea una situación momentánea en nuestra vida. Hay noticias para nosotros hoy, que no importa la dificultad, el desafío o el dolor, siempre existe la posibilidad de transformación.

Hoy estuve hablando y orando con un hombre que acababa de perder a su hijo por la violencia armada, un asesinato sin sentido. Uno podría preguntarse ¿qué palabras pueden aliviar el dolor?, ¿qué se le puede decir al padre de este joven que fue asesinado a tiros, para ayudarle a calmar su desesperación? Bueno, ya vemos, creo que la fe es la que le puede fortalecer. Puede que no sea en el instante o en el momento, pero la fe cura, restaura y reconforta. Incluso en medio de la tristeza y la ira, la fe nos da la capacidad de pasar el día, el momento o la hora. Tal vez hoy se haya ido, un hijo puede estar perdido, pero a veces todo lo que nos queda es nuestra Fe.

En la carta de Pablo a Timoteo, escribe: “el Señor me apoyó y me fortaleció”, continúa: “El Señor me rescatará de toda amenaza maligna y me llevará a salvo a su reino celestial”. Anímate con la carta de Pablo a Timoteo. La capacidad de Dios para fortalecernos es doble. Dios nos apoya aquí y ahora y nos da la fuerza para luchar contra la injusticia, para alcanzar a salvar a los que están perdidos. Para hablar en contra del odio y la violencia. Defender la justicia con dignidad para nuestra juventud, nuestras familias y nuestro vecindario. Y finalmente, para guiarnos a ese reino celestial.
